Rafting at Tara Canyon
It’s really something you cannot miss while traveling in the Balkans: rafting in the Tara Canyon! Not only you will have fun with 2 -3 hours of rafting, but also you will be amazed by the stunning scenery!
How to go for rafting in the Tara Canyon?
1) You can go your own way, stay on site and book your own rafting session. This is certainly the cheapest solution, ideal if you have at least two days to spend there. We know people who have done this, so it is possible without any doubt!
2) If you have a short timing, as we did, you can simply book a tour in your hostel in Kotor or Budva. And you will be with other young people…
Montenegro Hostel organizes great tours from Kotor and Budva for 70 € with breakfast and lunch included , 2 -3h rafting , with many photo stops. Be aware that the journey to get there is terribly long ! Attention, it must be arranged with the hostel before because the tours are not organized every day, and it usually depends on the number of participants (you need at least 4 people to fill a car). In addition , you should arrive on time when the owner will set an appointment with you to pay in advance. Indeed, one of our friends had a bad joke with a tour he wanted to book at the Montengro Hostel Budva. The owner told him to come at 8pm to pay, but he was not on time so she gave her the tour to someone else.
Old Town Hostel in Kotor also organizes the same type of tour and even a little cheaper.
From Where to go rafting on the Tara Canyon?
If you do the organized tour, it is interesting to leave from Kotor instead of Budva because the path is one hour shorter then. You can also do it from Budva, take your backpack with you, and ask that they let you in Kotor, which saves you time and money if you had planned to visit these two cities (and you should definitely visit these two cities!) . The opposite is also possible.
Equipment not forget to go rafting
- Your swimming suit.
- No need for water sandals, or sneakers, they have everything available.
- The ideal is to bring a waterproof camera, but anyway you can take with you your normal camera and your instructor will keep it in a waterproof bag and give it to you when you want to take pictures.

SO WHICH ONE IS BETTER? OLD TOWN HOSTEL OR MONTENEGRO HOSTEL?
They will be the same I think. THE hostels help u organize the transport and book the rafting but THE rafting will probably be the same.
